Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about firearm cleaning, maintenance, and our services

How often should I clean my firearm?

A basic field strip and clean after every shooting session is a good habit. For defensive carry firearms, monthly cleaning is recommended even if unfired, as body heat, moisture, and pocket lint can accelerate wear and fouling. Firearms in storage should be inspected and lightly re-oiled at least once or twice a year.

Do you work on all types of firearms?

We work on most common handguns (semi-auto pistols and revolvers), rifles (including AR-platform featureless and fixed-magazine rifles), and shotguns. If you have a less common platform or antique firearm, call ahead and we'll let you know if it falls within our current capabilities.

How long does a cleaning or repair typically take?

Most basic cleaning services can be completed while you wait or within the same business day depending on our shop volume. Detail strips, repairs, and more involved work typically take 2–5 business days. We'll give you an estimated turnaround when you drop off your firearm.

What do I need to bring when dropping off a firearm for service?

Please bring a valid government-issued ID. All firearms must be unloaded before entering the store. If you have the original box or case, that's helpful but not required. If the firearm has an issue you've noticed, a brief description helps our technicians know where to start.

Do you offer any maintenance products I can take home?

Yes, we stock a selection of quality cleaning solvents, lubricants, bore snakes, cleaning kits, and patches for all common calibers. Our staff can recommend specific products for your firearm and show you the basics of home maintenance.

Can you help me learn to clean my own firearm?

Yes - when you pick up your cleaned firearm, just ask. Our staff is happy to walk you through the basic field strip, cleaning steps, and lubrication points specific to your firearm. Many customers find it's easier than they expected once they've seen it done once.
