Hangtown Range's indoor archery range offers a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for archers of all experience levels. Whether you're picking up a bow for the first time, practicing before hunting season, or looking to sharpen your competitive technique, our range provides the space and support you need.
Our staff includes experienced archery technicians who can assist with equipment selection, bow tuning, and range guidance. Walk-ins are welcome during regular business hours, and equipment rentals are available for those who don't own their own gear.

Essential Safety Rules
Self-Monitoring Range
All shooters are expected to be polite, cooperate with others, and follow all Hangtown Range guidelines and safety procedures.
CCTV Monitoring
The range is continually monitored by closed circuit TV. Unsafe behavior will result in being asked to leave the facility.
Walk Only
Always walk in the archery range - no running.
Supervision Required
Archers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older. No children under age 9.
Arrow Handling
Always carry arrows with points down or in a quiver, never pointed toward people.
Secure Loose Items
Secure all loose clothing, tie back long hair, and remove bracelets, necklaces, hood strings, headphones, and hoop earrings.
Footwear
No open-toed shoes allowed on the range.
Equipment Storage
Store bow cases on tables to avoid creating tripping hazards.
Ready Position
Keep arrows in quiver until directed to shoot.
Shooting Line Protocol
Only commence firing when all shooters are on the shooting line. All others must be at least 3ft back from the shooter.
Target Discipline
Shoot only at the target directly in front of you and in your lane.
Arrow Types
Use only target or field points - never broadheads, barbed, or judo points. Fiberglass arrows prohibited; feather-fletched arrows for recurve/longbows only.
Draw Position
When drawing the bow, always keep the arrow pointed below the top of the target - no sky draw.
Approved Targets
Shoot only at designated targets. Use only approved archery targets on the backstop.
Full Draw Rule
Only release the bow string at full draw with an arrow nocked. Dry firing damages bows and is dangerous.
Dropped Arrow Protocol
If an arrow drops past the shooting line, leave it until a cease-fire is announced.

Do I need to bring my own bow to shoot at the archery range?
No. We offer equipment rentals for those who don't own their own bow. You're also welcome to bring your own equipment as long as it's safe and appropriate for indoor range use (No Crossbows). Ask our staff if you have questions about what equipment is allowed.
Is the archery range suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. Our indoor range is beginner-friendly and our staff can provide basic guidance on stance, form, and safety. We also offer archery lessons for those who want more structured coaching.
What are the age requirements for using the archery range?
Archers under 18 must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian. We recommend beginners of any age start with a brief orientation from our staff before shooting independently.
Can I bring my own arrows to the range?
Yes, you may bring your own arrows. They must be in good condition - no cracked shafts, loose nocks, or damaged fletching. Our staff may inspect equipment before allowing it on the range for safety purposes. Fiberglass arrows for recurve only.
What are your range hours, and can I walk in?
Walk-ins are welcome during regular business hours: Wed–Sat 10am–6pm, Sun 10am–5pm. For group events or to guarantee lane availability during busy times, call ahead at (530) 497-5443.
Do you offer archery instruction or coaching at the range?
Yes - we offer archery instruction lessons for beginners through intermediate archers. Lessons cover form, safety, equipment selection, and technique.
Is eye protection required on the archery range?
Eye protection is required for all archers on our range.
Can I use the archery range for practice before hunting season?
Yes. Our range is an excellent place to tune your shot and build confidence before the season. Our archery technicians can help tune your bow and verify your setup is dialed in.
