Do I need an appointment for bow tuning or service?
Walk-ins are welcome for most services, but calling ahead at (530) 621-4500 is recommended, especially for full competition tunes or string replacements, which take more time. We'll let you know current wait times and whether you can wait in-store or need to leave the bow with us.
How often should I replace my bowstring?
For compound bows used regularly, string and cable replacement every 2–3 years or 2,000–3,000 shots is a common guideline. If you notice fraying, serving separation, peep rotation issues, or timing changes that weren't present before, those are signs the string may be due for replacement sooner. We inspect strings as part of any service visit.
Can you tune a bow I didn't purchase here?
Yes. We service and tune all makes and models of compound and recurve bows regardless of where they were purchased. Just bring it in along with your arrows if you want a full paper tune performed.
What do I need to bring when I come in for a bow tune?
Bring your bow, your arrows (the ones you actually shoot), and any accessories you shoot with - release aid, sight, rest. The more complete your setup when we tune it, the more accurate the results. If you have a specific complaint or goal (better paper tune, improved distance consistency), let us know when you drop off.

Can you help me select the right bow for my draw length?
Absolutely. Proper draw length is the most important fit factor for accuracy and comfort. We measure draw length in-store and help you select a bow with appropriate modules and settings.
Do you have an archery range I can shoot on?
Yes, Hangtown has an indoor archery range. Check our Range page for current hours, lane availability, and pricing. Range use is available for members and walk-in guests. Equipment rentals are available - call ahead to confirm.
