Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about FFL transfers

How much does an FFL transfer cost at Hangtown Range?

Our standard FFL transfer fee is affordable and competitive with other local dealers. Call us at (530) 621-4500 for current pricing.

How long does an FFL transfer take?

All firearm transfers in California require a mandatory 10-day waiting period. Your transfer will be ready for pickup after the 10 days have passed and your background check has cleared. (DOJ has up to 30 days to make a determination.)

Do I have to wait to pick up my firearm after transfer?

Yes. California law requires no less than a 10-day waiting period from the time of purchase/transfer, regardless of when the firearm arrives at our location.

Can I transfer multiple firearms at once?

California law limits handgun purchases to 3 per 30 days starting April 1, 2026. Each firearm will have its own transfer fee.

Do you accept transfers from out-of-state online retailers?

Yes. As long as the online retailer uses a licensed FFL dealer, we can process the transfer. Always confirm with the retailer first.
