Courses

Do I need prior experience to attend training classes?

No. Our Basic Handgun Training and many other courses are designed for complete beginners. We teach everything from the ground up. However, some advanced courses like MILO Training may recommend prior foundational skills.

How long is the CCW training course?

The initial CCW course is a 16-hour program, typically completed over two days. It includes classroom instruction on California firearms law, use of force, and safe handling, followed by a live-fire qualification on our indoor range.

Does your CCW course meet El Dorado County requirements?

Yes. Our CCW certification course is approved by the California Department of Justice and meets all requirements set by the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office for initial CCW permit applications and renewals.

Do you offer CCW renewal courses?

Yes. California CCW permits must be renewed every two years, and a renewal course is required. Our renewal course is shorter than the initial course and covers updated laws and a live-fire qualification. Visit our CCW course page for upcoming dates.

What is an FSC (Firearm Safety Certificate)?

The FSC is a California state requirement for purchasing firearms. It demonstrates that you understand basic firearm safety laws and practices. The certificate is valid for 5 years and must be presented when purchasing a firearm in California. Note: You do not need an FSC to purchase ammunition.

Who needs to take the FSC test?

Anyone purchasing a firearm in California must have a valid FSC or a valid CCW. The only exemptions are for certain law enforcement personnel. If you're buying your first gun or haven't owned one in 5 years, you'll need a current FSC. Ammunition purchases do not require an FSC.

Do you offer private instruction?

Yes. We offer one-on-one and small group private instruction tailored to your specific goals and schedule. Contact us for pricing and availability.

What does the FSC test cost?

FSC testing is $25.00. The certificate is valid for 5 years, making it a one-time cost for most firearm owners during that period.
